Role
10Pearls is seeking a Senior UNIX Infrastructure Engineer to manage and support enterprise UNIX/Linux infrastructure across large-scale on-premises and cloud environments. This role is ideal for an experienced infrastructure professional with deep expertise in UNIX platforms, virtualization, operating system administration, automation, and enterprise support. You will be responsible for ensuring platform availability, security, performance, and operational excellence while supporting critical business applications and infrastructure services.
Responsibilities
UNIX & Linux Infrastructure Management
- Administer and support enterprise UNIX/Linux platforms including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, IBM AIX, HP-UX, Oracle Linux, and other Linux distributions
- Perform operating system installations, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management
- Manage server builds, configuration, and deployment activities
- Perform firmware upgrades and hardware lifecycle management
- Support Oracle Exadata and hyper-converged infrastructure platforms
- Provide 24x7 production support for enterprise UNIX environments
- Monitor system health, capacity, availability, and performance
- Ensure high platform uptime while meeting SLA requirements
- Support application deployments and infrastructure changes
- Perform capacity planning and performance tuning
- Manage incidents, problems, and change requests following ITIL processes
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for production issues
- Implement preventive and corrective actions to improve platform stability
- Participate in major incident resolution and technical escalations
- Maintain operational documentation and knowledge articles
- Implement OS hardening based on CIS benchmarks and security standards
- Manage vulnerability remediation and security patching
- Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and audit requirements
- Support certificate management and security baseline implementation
- Administer virtualization platforms including VMware, IBM VIOS, HP VSP, and Red Hat OpenShift
- Support containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes
- Assist with Azure cloud infrastructure and hybrid deployments
- Support cluster technologies including GPFS and PowerHA
- Develop and maintain Shell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks
- Improve operational efficiency through infrastructure automation
- Support Red Hat Satellite and enterprise patch management solutions
- Optimize server provisioning and maintenance processes
- Install, configure, and maintain IBM Power Systems, Oracle Exadata, Dell, HP, and x86 hardware
- Perform firmware upgrades and hardware troubleshooting
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware maintenance and issue resolution
- Support disaster recovery and backup infrastructure
- Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
- Support infrastructure projects, migrations, and technology upgrades
- Collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure and application teams
- 15+ years of experience supporting enterprise UNIX/Linux infrastructure in large-scale environments
- Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, IBM AIX, HP-UX, Oracle Linux, and other Linux distributions
- Proven experience performing OS upgrades, migrations, patching, and system administration
- Experience implementing OS hardening, CIS benchmarks, and vulnerability management
- Strong knowledge of VMware, OpenShift, IBM VIOS, HP VSP, and virtualization technologies
- Experience with Shell scripting and infrastructure automation
- Hands-on experience supporting enterprise hardware including IBM Power Systems, Oracle Exadata, Dell, HP, and x86 servers
- Experience with firmware upgrades and hardware maintenance
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure cloud environments
- Experience with GPFS, PowerHA, clustering, and high-availability solutions
- Strong understanding of performance tuning, capacity planning, and infrastructure monitoring
- Experience managing enterprise patching using Red Hat Satellite and related tools
- Familiarity with ITIL-based Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to work effectively in mission-critical, high-availability production environments
- Experience supporting enterprise storage platforms including IBM, EMC, and NetApp
- Exposure to middleware platforms such as WebSphere, WebLogic, Tomcat, and JBoss
- Experience supporting Oracle and SQL Server database infrastructure
- Knowledge of Azure hybrid infrastructure and cloud migration projects
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and business continuity
- Exposure to enterprise automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices
- ITIL Foundation or relevant infrastructure certifications (preferred)
- Experience working in banking, financial services, or other large enterprise environments
